The Genius of The Genée

19 May 2015

The Genée – a global competition run by the Royal Academy of Dance to find the ballet stars of the future – comes to London in September for the first time in five years.

The Genée brings together the very best young performers aged 15-19 from around the world who are studying the Academy’s syllabus. This prestigious 80 year old competition provides an astonishing opportunity for young dancers to train together with world renowned choreographers and dancers, before taking the stage for the competition final on 19 September at Sadlers Wells.

Tickets are on sale here

The final is not only a spectacular, international snapshot of ballet today but the opportunity to see the stars of tomorrow; for many young dancers The Genée is a springboard into an international career. Steven McRae, Laura Cuthbertson and Francesca Hayward are just some of the internationally celebrated principal dancers to have competed in the competition.

Kallaway is supporting the RAD to raise the profile of The Genée and the wider work of the Academy: helping people of all ages to discover the joy of dance and develop excellence in ballet.
