A Poetic Moment to Pause with Olivia Dodd secures 500k views and drives footfall

Paddington Square sits at one of London’s busiest arrival points, just outside Paddington Station.  It is a place of movement and transition.

To build relevance and distinction from the station, we developed Paddington Square’s communications and marketing around the destination offering ‘an ‘Elevated Urban Pause’ -encouraging those in motion to pause and spend time in the destination.

A recent highlight of this approach was a three day residency from Olivia Dodd, the internet poetess, writing individual poems for shoppers and commuters in the lead up to Valentine’s Day.  She created one-to-one interactions that got people to people to stop, reflect and connect with the space in a different and distinct manner – leaving with a poem, just for them, written by Olivia.

We layered the experience with considered partnerships. Moleskine extended the creative expression and writing theme, offering an exclusive promotion on notebook personalisation. Freddie’s Flowers created a floral display and sensory draw that helped increase dwell time.

Social media content amplified the idea beyond the physical space. This included a ‘Love Letter to Paddington’ that Olivia wrote and shared from CÉ LA VI, the luxury rooftop bar and restaurant at the top of Paddington Square.  This reel, and the other social mediacontent created during the campaign, secured 550k views across Instagram and TikTok.

The activation shifted behaviour in real time – turning footfall into active engagement. People paused, participated and shared. The social media content extended reach, building desirability and positioning the space as culturally relevant and vibrant.

This activation – and the other activity we have been carrying out – has helped increased footfall through Paddington Square by 102% from 1 December 2005- 28 February 2026 – from 15.4k weekday visits to 31.2k weekday visits.
