With Chelsea Waterfront’s rich heritage at its core, the focus is not on preservation, but reinterpretation.
At Powerhouse – once an industrial landmark – this came to life through Design Distilled, a collaboration between interior design studio Angel O’Donnell and Speyside whisky house The Glenrothes, marking the unveiling of the Powerhouse Duplex.
The event brought together interiors and whisky to explore how craft, precision, and process shape modern luxury.
A shared foundation
Working with both brands, we developed a concept built on shared principles: strong foundations, bespoke thinking and the idea that luxury is layered and intentional.
This allowed us to position the duplex not simply as a residence, but as a considered composition shaped by architecture, design and craft.
Craft as a common language
The evening began with a curated tasting by Glenrothes, followed by a salon-style discussion exploring parallels between composing an interior and crafting a single malt.
From bespoke furniture to bespoke casks, both brands demonstrated how precision and individuality underpin their work.
Layering emerged as a central theme – whether through materiality and spatial design, or flavour and maturation – with clarity and balance the outcome.
Reflecting evolving definitions of luxury
The discussion reflected a broader shift in expectations.
Luxury is increasingly defined by depth and consideration, rather than surface-level aesthetics. Audiences are seeking experiences where design, craft and storytelling come together in a meaningful way.
By framing the event around these ideas, we moved beyond a traditional launch moment into a wider cultural conversation.
Reinforcing a cultural platform
Design Distilled forms part of Chelsea Waterfront’s wider programme, positioning the development as more than a residential destination.
Through carefully curated partnerships, we create moments that bring together leading voices across design and craft – reinforcing Chelsea Waterfront’s role in shaping how modern luxury is understood.
