Japan House takes visitors through a forest of colour

17 May 2019

Kallaway recently raised awareness and drove footfall to Japan House London’s UK-first exhibition celebrating a centuries-old Japanese craft tradition, which still inspires global fashion houses today.

We tripled the number of expected journalists to attend Living Colours: kasane – the Language of Japanese Colour Combinations, the immersive exhibition devoted to the art of hand-dyeing techniques which has inspired a lipstick collaboration with CHANEL.

Open at Japan House until 19 May 2019, visitors move amongst huge, hand-dyed silks cascading from the ceiling in a ‘forest of colour’ which showcases the ancient and yet modern craftsmanship of the Yoshioka family and their Masters of Colour’s 200 year legacy in preserving this treasured Japanese craft for future generations.

Key media outlets such as Culture Whisper describe the experience as a celebration of “the country’s love of seasonal hues”, while  Londonist art critic Tabish Khan hailed it as “beautiful and meditative”.

Kallaway’s media relations strategy for the exhibition highlighted Japan House London’s role in helping to increase understanding of Japan and its culture in the UK, to provide a catalyst for stronger relations, and success, between the two nations.
